Mission

Our Mission

Our mission is to help aspiring fire officers to become the best-prepared Fire Captain, Lieutenant and Battalion Chief candidates for their fire department assessment center by creating the most effective and comprehensive online fire officer training resources available.

BECOME A MEMBER

Our Philosophy

We don’t teach aspiring Fire Captain, Fire Lieutenant, and Fire Battalion Chief members how to beat the exam, and we believe that there is no short cut to hard work. After developing and proctoring numerous fire department promotional exams, we know that the tested dimensions in fire department promotional exams are predictable. AFO training materials were created using knowledge of the pitfalls you will encounter during your promotional exam, and where you can score valuable points that will help set you apart from your competition.

As a member of AFO, we prepare you for the predictability of the exam to help you do well in the testing process. We know that there is definitely a benefit to systematic, focused training that starts with learning the basics, then repeatedly applying them to new and more challenging scenarios. Our goal is to you integrate your knowledge into routines, so you don’t miss a fail point or leave points on the table when presented with a new scenario during a promotional exam.

The more you practice for a fire department assessment center, the more comfortable and relaxed you will be. Demonstrating confidence and command presence will help show the raters that you are ready and able to assume the role of a Fire Captain, Fire Lieutenant or Battalion Chief and result in higher scores during your exam.

The knowledge and skills you learn will help you not only to promote, but also to confidently and competently assume the role of a fire officer after you promote.

No Excuses

We don’t believe in “having a bad day” on exam day. The candidate who had a bad day was not prepared, and it was identified during the assessment center. Knowledge and preparation always shows.

As firefighters, we pride ourselves on preparation. How is your promotional exam any different? Although no one can guarantee that you will get promoted, AFO members have had a very high success rate, often returning to AFO when they are ready to seek their next promotion. Read Testimonials from our AFO members.

We are confident that the members of AspiringFireOfficers.com will have an advantage over their competition.

Chief Fedak is a Battalion Chief with the Orange County Fire Authority. Due to state conflict of interest laws, the services provided by AFO may not be offered to current OCFA employees holding the rank of Battalion Chief or lower.
